There is a need to know how to convert KW to BTU/Hour. KW which stands for Kilowatts has a definite relationship to BTU (British Thermal Unit)/ hour.

If you know the KW and want to find the BTU/hour, the formula is: 3412.142 x KW.

For instance, what is the BTU/hr equivalent of 6 KW? You would take 3412.142 x 6 which = 20,478 BTU/hr. This conversion is important when needing to know if your electric heater needs to be ASME rated for your area.

Here are some common conversions of kw to BTU/hr.
6 kw = 20,478 Btu/hr
9 kw = 30,717 Btu/hr
12 kw = 40,956 Btu/hr
13.5 kw = 46,075 Btu/hr
15 kw = 51,195 Btu/hr
18 kw = 61,434 Btu/hr
24 kw = 81,912 Btu/hr
27 kw = 92,151 Btu/hr
30 kw = 102,390 Btu/hr
36 kw = 122,868 Btu/hr
40.5 kw = 138,226 Btu/hr
45 kw = 153,585 Btu/hr
54 kw = 184,302 Btu/hr
81 kw = 276,383 Btu/hr
108 kw = 368,511 Btu/hr
There may be times when you want to convert from BTU/hr to Kw. The formula is KW = BTH/hr / 3412.142. Let’s say you have a 125,000 BTU/HR heater and want to know the KW equivalent.
You would divide 125,000 BTU/hr/3412.142 = 36.65 KW.
